Grenada
Sailing Festival takes on a new title sponsor this year "Port Louis",
Port Louis is investing money into Grenada, building a new resort and spa, with
a large sponsor like this now behind the event it looks like the regatta is
only going to get better and better. We raced on Disco Inferno 2 in Grenada,
taking 3 podium places over 3 years, including being overall winners of the
regatta.
Grenada
is a beautiful island and easy to fly to with Virgin & BA both flying there.
The racing is over 4 days so if you book a week you'll get some time to relax
or some practice out on the water.
The
Regatta programme is below and we can fit in extra days at either end to make
it the perfect regatta for you and your friends.

HEINEKEN
REGATTA, St Martin
Whole Boat Charter
6th
to 9th March ’08 (Race Days)
1 week charter Monday 3rd to Monday 10th March
"Rum,
Fun and Sun all in one", that's the catchphrase of the Heineken Regatta
and boy does it live up to it's reputation. The Heineken Regatta takes place
around the beautiful multi cultural Dutch/French island of St Martin. The regatta
is just getting bigger and better every year, the extra day racing created in
2007 and staying in 2008 is the icing on the cake. The parties were legendary,
the event finished with Bob Marley's sons, Damien & Stephen performing on
the beach on one of the largest sound stages in the Caribbean.
Racing
is scheduled for Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun. The first day is Thursday, The Commodores
Cup day, a new day added in 2007 for the spinnaker classes only. It comprises
of 2 - 3 windward leeward races that will be scored independently of the weekend
racing. Fri, Sat & Sun are the Heineken Regatta races. The first race takes
the fleet from Simpson Bay anticlockwise around the whole island, it's a 35nm
round trip and you get really close in to the land so you have a perfect opportunity
to check out the beautiful scenery while racing hard against some of the best
boats the Caribbean has to offer. The finish and the party are back in Simpson
Bay, usually a huge Reggae affair on the beach, what a way to round off a perfect
day on the water, a rum in your hand and sand between your toes! The next day
sees the fleet doing two to three races round the cans, again in the beautiful
warm and crystal clear waters off St Martin's West coat. The finish and the
party is in Marigot on the French side, it's proving to be the best night of
all, seafood like you have never tasted and dancing in the streets with thousands
of other racers until the early hours. Hangovers are taken into account on the
last day and the race is "short and sweet", starting off Marigot Bay we race
back round to the capital Philipsburg before returning to Simpson Bay for a
few early evening cold ones. That evening is the final party and prize giving
on the beach. What a week, it's fun, fun, fun from the moment your plane touches
down. We will be racing with 100ft maxi’s, ex Americas Cup 12meters and 80'
Swans, pro sailors and holiday racers alike, all there for the pure experience.
It really is a regatta with something for everyone.

in before the weekend.
Friday

warm up and ease the pains away from yesterday before the Round the Island Race

Saturday
8th March - After a nice lie in, its down to the boat for 8.30am and

Whole Boat Charter
1st

1 week charter Monday 31st March to Monday 7th April
The
BVI Spring Regatta is 3 days of racing in the Sir Francis Drake, windward/leeward
courses if you pick the racing division or racing around the islands if you
pick the cruising division. To kick start the regatta there is the Sailing Festival
that starts on Tuesday with a race to the Bitter End, a layday there on the
Wednesday and a race back to Nanny Cay on the Thursday. It's all about having
fun and getting to go racing at the same time. The regatta attracts around 100
boats so it has a very friendly feel to it but out on the water its a real fight
to be at the top of your class and stay there with up to 4 races a day.
With
the choice of the racing or cruising division you get a choice on how you wish
to race, with two separate race areas, there are two very different style days
available in the regatta. Let us know what you fancy, be it a serious race hard
regatta or a group of friends looking for a competitive day out.

1 week charter Saturday 26th April to Saturday 3rd May
"The
recently concluded 40th anniversary of Stanford Antigua Sailing Week had it
all: wonderful sailing in ideal Caribbean conditions; a mighty fleet of over
200 yachts that enjoyed excellent competition in sixteen separate classes; a
fine slate of winners and many memorable performances; and, last but hardly
least, a week of music and parties that gave this milestone edition of this
annual regatta the shore-side merriment and festivity it so richly deserved."-
Antigua Sailing Week Website
The
most AWESOME regatta in the WORLD!!! This is the Caribbean's BIG ONE! Everyone
has heard of ASW, and everyone wants to be there and in recent years EVERYONE
wants to be a part of TEAM DISCO INFERNO. It is 10 days of pure unadulterated
racing and partying pleasure. ASW2007 delivered an excellent regatta and we
were surprised that in our 6 years of racing in Antigua it's still getting better.
The changes made in 2007 really made all the difference. Its RACING RACING AND
MORE RACING with a healthy splattering of parties to ensure sleep deprivation,
aching muscles, sunburn and hangovers. The schedule below is for Division A,
Division B, has only one race a day and they are shorter than that of Division
A

ANGOSTURA
TOBAGO SAIL WEEK, Tobago
Whole Boat Charter
11th
to 16th May ’08 (Race Days)
1 week charter Saturday 10th to Saturday 17th May
Angostura
really hosts a sweet regatta in Tobago.
One
thing Tobago Sail Week always has is breeze. The regatta provides races at varying
levels of competitiveness from the Racing Class, at the extreme end, (which
is highly taxing and requires a lot of skill and stamina), to Racer Cruiser,
to Cruiser, to Charter class in diminishing levels of demand.
Half
way through the regatta there is always a ‘lay day’ for enjoying
a bit of fun and relaxation. If the rest of the week is about serious sailing,
Lay Day is about real fun, it’s a family event with team games and socializing
in the shade of the palm trees.
The
Regatta is a gathering of the clans. Yachts hailing from Barbados, Antigua,
USA, UK, France and of course Trinidad & Tobago made up the fleet in 2007.
In racing class there was a whole tribe of feisty little racing boats including
Beneteau First 10m, Melges 32’, Henderson 36’, all flaunting their
sophisticated carbon accessories and 3DL sails. In the more sedate Cruiser Racing
and Cruising class there are elegant designs like Sparkman & Stephens 34’,
Santa Cruz 70’ and Oyster 66’.
