Week One,

What a week....Since leaving Hythe at 1pm on Sunday 14 October, we've headed west across the English Coast ready to make the break to Spain. We were hoping to have left the UK already but due to the strong southerly winds, which would have lead to an uncomfortable 5 or more days at sea, with the wind permanently on the nose. We opted for the team bonding experience of cruising. Spending the trip to Bayona as a crew of 8, we've had a cosy week, spending each night in a different marina, starting with Poole, then Weymouth, Dartmouth and finally Falmouth which is our final place of call until Saturday 6am when we're heading across the Bay of Biscay. We're here in Falmouth with 2 other ARC boats who are also looking for the window in the weather to make the break. El Syd did try to leave yesterday and returned 6 hours later looking more than a little wet, and very happy about their return to Falmouth Marina...

So the Crew have been experiencing the joys of cruising with breakfast around 9.30am each day, and finding their sea legs, ready for what could be an intense week, but don't worry we're already planning the party for our first night in Spain which will hopefully be Thursday...

So our skipper Matt is spending his 30th birthday in the middle of the Bay, he'll be lucky if he gets a pot noodle if its real rough...I think the cake will have to wait until we land in Spain and it will be Sangrias all round...
