ARC Preparations

Tuesday 19 November

5 days to go. The excitement on Disco is HUGE. Anna and Karen arrived on Sunday, and its been chat, chat, chat. Tonight Tash arrives so its dinner onboard for our bonding session, the first time the team is altogether and now together for the next five weeks.

Marc stayed with us until Thursday and we had a busy week checking out the Island and every supermarket possible, I'm very glad I did a shop in Gibraltar and luckily Tash is bringing the chinese noodles with her! We had a great week with the Legend - Marky the Darky, it was sad to see him leave, we did discuss holding him hostage and taking him to Antigua! On Thursday the weather took a turn for the worst and started blowing old boots again, so we had to delay our trip round to Marina Rubicon by 2 days.

So who's here. Intuition, sister of Forward Thinking rocked up the same day as us in Puerto Calero with Brett on board and Lisa joined him on Thursday, they also did the other ARC last year and we saw them in Cowes this summer, so its good to be in their company again. My Mum & Auntie Ros also arrived Thursday for the week. They're in Playa Blanca so we've seen quite a bit of them as well as keeping on top of our jobs. Last Friday we loaded half a ton of bottled water onboard!

Thursday night was the Bacardi Breezer promotion, it was so windy that you had to stand clear of the bar when the beer was poured as it was flying out of the tap and the cup! We had a BBQ and chatted to different people, I think ARC Antigua is going to be a massive success, already we've met more people than last year and there is only 30 boats in this ARC, so a lot less people and far more friendly. Friday night we were taken to an Art Gallery in a Castle and had dinner there which was a really good meal.

Saturday was the day we brought the boat round to Playa Blanca. We had my mum & auntie over for dinner so they could spend some time in our home. Its great to catch up on all the family gossip. Sunday they went for a tour of the Island which they are still raving about now and we went to the airport to meet Anna & Karen. Sunday night they went to their first Happy Hour and then we wandered into town with Lisa & Brett for dinner.

Yesterday we took my mum & auntie to Puerto Calero for lunch where they enjoyed their first meal of Tapas, it was a great restaurant and we stayed there for 4 hours!!!! Sunset was a rush to the top of the mountains to watch the sun go down and those clouds were just hovering there to ruin the perfect sunset, we then took the two girls over to Puerto Calero for dinner and had paella, it was pretty average and Matt and I have decided that our ARC paella last year on the crossing has clearly scared us for life!

Today is a seminar day, the girls have been busy attending seminars while Matt and I have stayed on the boat doing the last of the jobs, tonight is Tash's welcome dinner, tomorrow is the ARC dinner and on Thursday is the fancy dress party, plenty to keep us all busy.

So for now I'll say "Adios Amigos, I'll be back when we reach the other side!!!"
