DIY
Charters is run by Matt
& Lizzie Abbiss.
"When
creating Disco Inferno we knew we wanted to make it
something special, something for people to remember
& something that stood out amongst the rest. Over
the last 7 years, we have managed to do that, we are
the most competitive charter boat on the circuit for
groups & individuals. 2008 Saw the arrival of Disco
Inferno 3, a Bordeaux60 from CNB, so we're taking the
experience on to the next level and now providing a
BIG Boat Experience."

Disco
Inferno 3 is the first of a new production build from
CNB, BX60. This boat is a honey, built by CNB in France
and designed by one of the worlds leading yacht designers,
Philippe Briand, she is the ultimate combination of
comfort and speed.
Her
tall rig and deep bulb keel power her along at amazing
speeds while her luxurious modern interior with a huge
saloon area and three large guest cabins make her a
joy to be on for a fantastic cruising holiday. Picture
yourself diving into perfect clear water from her large
teak bathing platform, sipping sundowners in the spacious
cockpit or sunbathing on her vast teak decks.

For
The Racers
The
concept of the Bordeaux 60 was for a fast-cruiser and
that is exactly what Briand designed, however we have
built Disco Inferno 3 with a more cruiser-racer feel
to it. It will cruise fantastically and have all the
mod cons for ultimate luxury aboard but we want to race
as well and for us there is no point to racing unless
you are in with a shout and have the best possible tool.
Disco
Inferno 3 has been carefully modified for racing. She
has masthead spinnakers for CSA (Caribbean) and IRC
optimization, which have very low penalties for extra
spinnaker area and height of hoist plus length of pole,
we went for as much as possible here, we have gone for
the biggest kite, measuring in at a whopping 275sqm
a whole 50sqm bigger than the design fractional kites
- all good stuff. Her genoas are specified at 108% of
J which basically makes them non-overlapping, another
thing loved by the rating rule. Her North Sails Carbon/Spectra
mainsail and Genoa weigh in at 30% lighter than a standard
sail for this boat.
We
have a Carbon Park Avenue boom, an oversized carbon
spinnaker pole and very sexy carbon steering wheels,
the winches were up-graded for faster tacking and trimming,
the keel faired to the designer’s templates, the
antifoul sprayed on and faired for that little bit of
extra speed. It doesn’t stop there; our secret
weapon that doesn’t cost anything on the rating
is the brand new B&G H3000 instrument system. This
is a no compromise racing instrument set, we have the
Hercules Performance package with Gyro compass linked
to the B&G Racevision 2 wireless tactical computer,
this is fully loaded with all the boats performance
data and with the information flow managed via the Gyro
it gives real time figures to the helmsman and trimmers,
this allows them to accurately gauge the boats performance
and how they are sailing compared to what the boat is
capable of, very scary stuff for all trimmers as the
numbers never lie and these are displayed on the great
big 30/30 displays on the mast, target speed and actual
speed one above the other, no hiding for anyone. With
all this go faster gear and Matt & Lizzie’s
vast experience of making yachts go fast you are guaranteed
the best tool possible for your regatta campaign, all
this top kit ensures we will be competing with the best
out on the race course on Disco Inferno 3.

Racing
Charter on Disco Inferno 3
Individuals
& Groups
Our aim is to bring a group of individuals
together and make them into a competitive, competent
racing crew. Disco appeals to those people who want
to take part in some of the best regattas in the World.
Some of our guests race their own boats at home, some
are part of competitive race campaigns on the Solent,
some have owned their own cruising boat and some just
fancy giving yacht racing a go. The one thing that they
all have in common is that they all want to race and
have a great time doing it. We are lucky in having such
a mix of crew that not only do we attract very experienced
racers that will not be disappointed with the level
of sailing or the competence of the team but with such
a large crew (14 usually) if you are a novice there
is always a place for you, someone is going to watch
over you and help you through the days on the water
and the benefit in having the good guys on is that you
get a proper experience and a real opportunity to learn.
We have probably the highest percentage of returning
guests in the business and it’s these die hard
Discoers that help us make the team a winning one.
Everyone is welcome to join the Disco team, experienced
or novice, coming by yourself or with a group, you will
have a blast!
We
are offering Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez to groups
& individuals in 2011.
Whole
Boat Charter
Having
spent 10 years organising regattas, we realise that everybody
is after their own type of regatta. On Disco Inferno
we have adapted to this demand for flexibility and are
now offering 3 different ways of enjoying a regatta
with your friends or your race crew. What’s important
is that you enjoy your regatta and race in a way that
you want to, ultra competitive or just for fun, we have
the package for you.
We have devised the following options;
Non
Spinnaker
– Loads of fun & not
much sweat or stress! Bring up to 6 guests. Cruising
Sails Only (Main & Genoa on furler, NO spinnaker).
Boat in Cruising trim. Accommodation for all guests
onboard and opportunities for evening meals onboard
and a real pampered relaxed regatta experience. No racing
experience necessary.
Spinnaker
- Up to 10 Guests. Performance North Carbon Sails, genoa
on furler and fractional asymmetric spinnaker tacked
to the bow and launched form the sock. Boat in Performance
trim. Accommodation for 6 onboard, some racing experience
in the crew is preferable as hoisting, dropping and
gybing the spinnaker can be hard work. If you want to
party all night but still sail fast then this is for
you and your crew.
Upgrade Option
– Racing Sails, North Carbon 3DL Genoa on furler
& Big Running Masthead Asymmetric Spinnaker. Racing
experience essential and if you want to be competitive,
an energetic/fit crew is needed to operate the boat
efficiently. 10 guests & 2 extra members of Disco
Pro Crew.
If
none of these suggestions suit what you are looking
for, then please contact your broker and tell them what
you would like and we will create that regatta for you.
Disco
Inferno 3, now appearing at the world’s top Regattas;
Heineken Regatta, Les Voiles de Saint-Barth, BVI Spring
